A Facebook page has been set up to allow those who knew him to share their thoughts, memories and photographs of John Belham-Payne.
John’s family has also asked that, in keeping with John’s wishes, people might like to donate to the John Belham-Payne Memorial Fund instead of sending flowers. The goal is that the fund will be put to immediate use by the Doreen Valiente Foundation to open the first of the public exhibitions of the Doreen Valiente Collection in Brighton in April 2016, which is the project John was dedicating himself so completely to for the past few years of his life and the fruition of which was his dearest last wish.
Doreen Valiant trustee Ashley Mortimer has also made this following appeal for help with staging the exhibition itself.
“John was starting work on building the physical panels for the exhibition displays, there are 13 panels to create, most containing a “back box” for a display of artefacts and lighting – all to some very tight museum standards. We’re appealing for any help with this since John was doing the work himself . . . we need someone skilled either in the Brighton area (or able to transport to Brighton) – we have budget for materials and some drawings and specifications but we now need to urgently raise funds if we are to have them made by someone other than John…”. This is also the address to send Paypal donations to.
