The (Pagan) play’s the thing

Doreen Valiente play poster

Two plays – one fixed, one touring – examine different aspects of Paganism in the modern world over the next month.

First, the long-awaited play about the life of Doreen Valiente, Doreen – An English Witch, commences its run at the Marlborough Theatre in Brighton from 21st-27th November to coincide with Witchfest. Staring Peta Taylor as Doreen Valiente, Charlotte Dearing as The Postulant, and Roman Withers as The Priest, it culminates in a VIP gala event with a Q&A session for the final matinée performance on the 27th.

Tickets start at £10.

Secondly, Boiling Kettle Theatre Company’s one-man show, Defender of the Dead by Sian Williams continues its tour around the South West. Starring Eltjo De Vries, it tells the story of Zac, a retired British Army NCO charged with guarding a sensitive archaeological site near Stonehenge, and is billed as a comedy exploring what happens when past and present collide.
