Speaking with Nature – Awakening to the Deep Wisdom of the Earth | Sandra Ingerman and Llyn Roberts | Bear & Company | ISBN: 9781591431909
What an absolute treasure this book is. One of the many things I love about the thoughtful essays Sandra and Llyn have written is that there is something for everyone, no matter which stage of your spiritual path you are on.
For a beginner, this is a perfect book to introduce you to the profound wisdom of the earth and the beings of the earth, including many simple and practical techniques to connect with the environment in your everyday life. For those already well acquainted with connecting to nature, this book encourages a subtle deepening of your daily practice. Many nature spirituality books focus on more ‘glamorous’ totem animals and tree beings, whereas this book focuses on earthworm and silt as much as it does on bear and owl.
The authors describe their personal connections to the ecosystems in their differing home terrains. Sandra speaks of desert life in New Mexico, whilst Llyn walks us through the Hoh rainforest of Washington State. Both these environments are quite alien to me, however I felt as if I was exploring with them, uncovering sacred secrets of our planet. The organic illustrations of Susan Cohen Thompson really help to merge the reader with the flow of the book.
Sandra and Llyn are world-renowned Shamanic practitioners and teachers and their years of experience and wisdom are poured in to these pages. A life-affirming call to connect with the divine feminine in nature, reading this book is a powerful medicine in itself.
